Leaky Pyranha Boats PSA! Scorch & Ozone Mystery Solved 🕵️

Digging into issues with loose bolts and leaky drain plugs on some new Pyranha boats out there. Update and more from Pyranha below. Update 8/30/2021: I removed both drain plug housings and removed the silicone that was present, which was really easy. The silicone used on the two looked different, and neither had enough. The Scorch was worst with not enough to even go all the way around. I added AquaSeal, replaced housing and let sit overnight. I've tested both with 1/2 gallon of water; Ozone leaked a few drops in about an hour (seems good enough), and Scorch didn't leak at all. (Actually Scorch leaked a little from the silicone drain plug itself!, but when I cranked it a little harder it stopped.) Not a difficult process, just a bit of a pain and not something one should have to do on a brand new boat. Also sucks b/c a lot of people just won't know and will deal with leaky boat when they don't have to. Response from Pyranha re Drain Plugs: "I was worried that might be the case with the drain plug. We made adjustments in manufacturing a while back to make sure this wouldn't be an issue in the future, but a decent amount of time passes between the boats leaving the factory and making it into the shops and then to customers where issues like that are really noticed. Fortunately it is a pretty simple fix, the two screws that hold it on are taken out (they screw into the plastic, no backing nuts inside the hull or anything like that) then it can be removed, the old silicone peeled off and resealed with new silicone or aquaseal etc... I know it's far from ideal to have to do any work on a new boat, and we would be glad to fix it if we were somewhere nearby, but unfortunately that isn't typically the case. Seeing as there have been a few reports of this, I'm looking into getting some 2oz tubes of silicone sealant we can send out to in the future to hopefully save some people a trip to the store. I'm just checking with the UK first that the ones I found online are going to be comparable to what they use at the factory."
