Delta-Cast Soft Thumb Spica Cast Application
When designing Delta-Cast® Soft we envisioned a very busy day in a cast room. Our goal was to wrap up timesaving application, durability and patient comfort in one unique product. Fibreglass-free polyester yarn provides superior durability compared to fibreglass yarn*. This results in fewer cast breakdowns and therefore fewer unscheduled cast changes. Its 3-way-stretch properties provide a wrinkle-free application. There is no need to tuck and fold. High conformability even around difficult body contours provide an enhanced fit and support. Its polyester substrate can be trimmed and removed with standard cast scissors, allowing for a customizable and perfect fit. Further it allows for versatile applications such as removable or circular casts. On top high wearing comfort is achieved through smooth edges and finish. The substrate allows a high radiolucency for clear x-ray pictures - X-rays can be taken without prior removal of the cast. You won't need special gloves required for application, as it is made with low-tack resin with a consistent set time providing a hassle-free application. Due to its semi-rigid support only minimal padding is required resulting in a low profile cast. This remains flexible over time and minimises the negative effects of rigid immobilisation (e.g. muscle atrophy) and improved circulation supports quicker healing. The open weave structure provides an increased airflow for cooler skin and higher patient comfort and the high water vapour transmission rate promotes a better skin condition vs. traditional casts.
