Der Geher in Hamburg: Harvestehude

I am Der Geher and start at the Klosterstern station on my way through Harvestehude. Passing stately homes, the route first leads to the Rolf Liebermann Studio of the NDR. This is followed by the Alsterpark on the Außenalster. The path leads to the stadium at Rothenbaum and from there again through residential areas to Grindelberg, a high-rise housing estate from 1946. The land was developed and sold by Hamburg citizens in 1860. Villas and distinguished apartment buildings for the upper class were built. First in the style of historicism, later in the Jugendstil. On the part particularly destroyed during the war, the Grindel high-rise buildings were built by the British occupation forces. Today, 17,800 inhabitants live in Harvestehude.
