We spent the evening reminiscing about old times, making tiramisu, and playing the piano together. Haruka Kuroiwa Haruka Kuroiwa began her international career with appearances in the "Martha Argerich Project" at the Lugano Festival in Switzerland and at the Berlin Philharmonic Gammermusiksaal in Germany. After graduating from the Tokyo College of Music High School, he completed his studies at the Imola International Piano Academy in Italy. During his time there, he studied under Takashi Hironaka, Franco Scala, Leonid Margarius, and Boris Petrushyan, as well as Sergei Babayan and Ivo Pogorelich. He has won awards at the All-Japan Student Music Competition and the Ogaki Music Festival, among others. He placed third at the Marsala International Competition in Italy and received a diploma at the Alicia de Larrocha International Competition in Andorra. He has also won numerous competitions and received the Bach Special Prize. In recent years, he has consistently received acclaim for his recitals across Japan, at the Palermo Music Festival in Sicily, and at the Cristofori Piano Salon in Berlin, Germany. A German newspaper lauded him, saying, "As the king of the keyboard, he captivated with everything required." His performances of Bach's music have been highly praised throughout his international career, including by Margerich. In addition to her recital career, she has performed with the Brandenburg Symphony Orchestra, the Frankfurt State Orchestra of Brandenburg, the Berlin New Prussian Philharmonic, the Rovereto Chamber Orchestra of Italy, and the Central Aichi Symphony Orchestra. She also works as a chamber musician and church organist. Her CDs, "Inspired to/from Bach" and "Legacy," are currently on sale through AltusMusic.
