In this episode of umAnI, we discuss this with neuroscientist Giorgio Vallortigara, Professor at the University of Trento, on a journey through neuroscience and evolutionary biology. We discuss the biological evolution of consciousness, its (unclear) relationship with intelligence, and ask whether it is an emergent property of brain complexity or a phenomenon with deeper evolutionary roots. Finally, an inevitable question: will artificial intelligence ever be conscious, or will consciousness remain a phenomenon tied to specific biological constraints?
