The Dream Weavers 'It's Almost Tomorrow' 1955 78 rpm

One of the greatest Rock'n'Roll love songs ever written was composed by high school friends Wade Buff and Gene Adkinson in 1953. They went on to attend the University of Florida were they entered and won a freshman talent competition, the prize was a twice weekly slot on the local radio station, the show finished at 10.30 pm. Wanting a tune to play out the show they chose their earlier composition It's Almost Tomorrow'. Wade recorded the lead vocal with various singers including Sally Sanborn, Mary Carr, Mary Rude and others filling in the backing. It eventually got them a contract at Decca and a release in November 1955 reaching #7, released on Brunswick in the UK it went to #1 in March 1956 staying there for 2 weeks replaced by The Rock And Roll Waltz by Kay Starr for a week then regained the top spot for a further week.
