Complete Rear Subframe Restoration
Some of the finishes and processes on these parts were performed in previous videos, but here is where all the work is done. All of the assemblies are rebuilt and completely installed into Galant VR-4 #1229/2000. Every part handled, tested and addressed. The rear subframe of this chassis is identical to every 1989-1994 Eclipse/Talon/Laser–except that it usually has an all-wheel-steering system bolted on top of it, so there's 11 extra holes drilled and tapped into the same exact K-member that the DSMs also use in their AWD production. They are interchangeable. All of the service parts except for the axles are identical. All of the above enabled me to install the beefiest rear differential and axles available from the DSM platform into my Galant VR-4 so that it can take all the abuse the kind of engine this project is receiving can deliver. All of the part numbers, tools, and torque specifications are detailed in the video.
