【藤枝・静岡ドライブ】宇津ノ谷峠・明治のトンネル・玉露の里・丁子屋｜旧東海道の歴史とグルメ旅

This time, we'll be taking a road trip around Utsunotani Pass, along the old Tokaido road in Shizuoka Prefecture, enjoying history, relaxation, and gourmet food. Starting at Utsunotani Pass Roadside Station, we pass through Utsunotani Village and visit the Utsunotani Tunnel (Meiji Tunnel), built during the Meiji period. This tunnel was Japan's first toll tunnel, and has a very unusual history: the original had a curved, L-shaped structure. Afterwards, we'll head to Gyokuro Village in Fujieda City. We'll learn about the history of gyokuro in a beautiful Japanese garden, while enjoying authentic gyokuro tea and sweets at Hyogetsutei. We'll end our trip at Chojiya, a long-established shop serving Shizuoka's specialty tororo soup. This stately thatched-roof building is a nationally designated tangible cultural property, and you can enjoy the flavors and atmosphere that have continued since the Edo period. Finally, we took a break at the Utsunotani Pass Roadside Station (Shizuoka side). It was a relaxing drive while immersing ourselves in the history of the old highway.
