For over 20 years now, Marc Alaux has been exploring Mongolia. From North to South and East to West, he has tirelessly traversed the vast landscapes of the Land of the Blue Sky on foot, from its mountainous borders to its nebulous capital. Having explored it extensively, he wanted to deepen his love for the country through a journey of self-discovery. In 2015, the author decided to spend three months living with a family of nomadic herders. In the heart of a bitterly cold winter, the yurt became his only refuge from the fierce winds, temperatures plummeting to -45 degrees Celsius, and the grueling manual labor he had to repeat every day. Immersed in the Mongolian routine, between the yurt, the sheepfold, and the snow-covered pastures, the outsider lived in silence and vast open spaces. And for the first time, he truly experienced time.
