Final de la regata entre dos J/80, Escola Port [Club] de Navegación.

The two J/80s started the race at the November buoy at the entrance to the Port of Barcelona. The wind was blowing offshore, and they had to sail two miles upwind to the Port Olímpic. After several crossings where they swapped positions, Venezuela was in the lead, and on the second crossing, Pinamar passed with a significant advantage. Instead of covering its position, Pinamar allowed Venezuela to sail out to sea and continued sailing towards the shore (Hotel Vela). Unbeknownst to them, they entered an area of less wind, and Venezuela, sailing offshore, clearly had a couple of knots more wind. There's no possible race strategy when one boat is sailing with 6 knots of wind and another with 8 knots. No matter how much the wind shifts, the boat with 8 knots will be much faster than the other. And that's exactly what happened. On the next crossing, Venezuela had a lead of more than 200 meters, simply because it had sailed for a certain period with more wind. The Venezuelan boat wins the regatta, as expected. Escola Port / Maritime Vocational Training #WOMENATTHEHEAD
