All my Spain Travel Blog Posts: https://destinationwellknown.com/spain/ Never heard of Barcelona? Barcelona sits on Spain's northeastern coast, squeezed in between the Mediterranean and the Collserola hills, and honestly it crams more into a city break than just about anywhere else in Europe. It's the capital of Catalonia, a region with its own language, its own food and a fierce pride in both, so don't expect it to feel like the rest of Spain, because it doesn't. Most people come for Gaudí's buildings, and fair enough, the Sagrada Família and Park Güell really are that good. But the city's got so much more going for it: medieval lanes in the Gothic Quarter, beaches a short stroll from the centre, brilliant little tapas bars hiding down side streets, and cracking day trips out to Montserrat and the Costa Brava. Throw in sunshine most of the year and dinners that start when you'd normally be in bed, and you'll get why I keep coming back.
