This masterclass took place at the Escuela Superior de Música Reina Sofía, Madrid 2004. Student: Erica Ramallo, violin Accompanying pianist: Amaia Zipitria Venue: Escuela Superior de Música Reina Sofía, Madrid (Spain) 22/11/2004 J. Sibelius: Concerto for violin and orchestra in D minor op 47 (violin and piano reduction) - III. Finale. Allegro ma non tanto Abstract: In this masterclass dedicated to the third movement of Sibelius’ Concerto, they work in depth on the fingerings of a specific passage which is especially difficult for the student. In addition, the teacher talks about the coordination which must exist with the bow in every movement. For Marcovici, virtuosity has to be more risky, it has to have more temper and character, and not be so “kind”. Referring to the expressiveness and phrasing, it is necessary to make more contrast and keep the tension until the end of every phrase, without softening the resolutions. They also work on rhythm, accents and dynamics. *********** By donating to the School, you help support the free tuition of more than 150 young great talents from all around the world, while we bring Classical music closer to society.
