How Does Jesus Fulfill the Law & the Prophets (Matthew 5:17–20) (Bible Study with Hank Hanegraaff)
Hank Hanegraaff, the host of the Bible Answer Man broadcast, reads Matthew 5:17–20. The Lord Jesus fulfills the law and the prophets in His own person. Through His life, death, and resurrection, Jesus fulfills every jot and tittle of the law. In John 8:46, Jesus asks the Jews a rhetorical question, namely, “which of you convicts Me of Sin?” “Not the smallest letter, not the least stroke of a pen, will by any means disappear from the Law until everything is accomplished” (Matthew 5:18). Thus, says St. Paul, “we do not make void the law through faith. On the contrary, we establish the law through faith” (Romans 3:31). Righteousness is attained by faith and as such is the gift of God. By proclaiming justification by faith in Christ, Christians uphold the law. Why? Because Christ in Himself fulfills the law in complete perfection. “Therefore” says St. Paul, “there is now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit. For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has made us free from the law of sin and death…for what the law could not do, God did by sending His own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, that the righteous requirement of the law might be fulfilled in us who do not walk according to the flesh but according to the Spirit” (Romans 8:1–4 NKJV). Thus, if we remain in Christ through faith and baptism and if we walk in the power of the Spirit, we will of a certainty not experience condemnation but rather we will experience life that is life to the full. Christ is the end of the law for all those who place their trust in Him! ✅ For further study, get Hank's book "Has God Spoken?: Memorable Proof of the Bible's Divine Inspiration" on Amazon: https://amzn.to/39etswY ------------------------------------------------- Connect with the Christian Research Institute (CRI): 🔴 Subscribe to our channel: https://www.youtube.com/user/CRInstit... 🔴 Subscribe to the Bible Answer Man on Apple Podcasts: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast... ✔️ Subscribe to “Hank Unplugged” on Apple Podcasts: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast... ✔️ Subscribe to our magazine the Cʜʀɪsᴛɪᴀɴ Rᴇsᴇᴀʀᴄʜ Jᴏᴜʀɴᴀʟ's weekly podcast https://www.spreaker.com/show/postmod... 📒 Visit CRI’s website: http://www.equip.org/ ✅ Listen to the Bible Answer Man broadcast live streaming Monday through Friday from 6-6:30 PM ET online at http://www.equip.org/ #hankhanegraaff #bibleanswerman #apologetics
