The Searchers Really Rockin, a personal compilation
Over a wet Bank Holiday I decided to collect together my favourite upbeat tracks by The Searchers. Originally it was just for my own amusement, but after 10 hours editing I decided to publish. Listed: track name (date of recording if known) source 1. Shakin’ all over (1963) from The Searchers at the Star-Club 2. Hully Gully (1963) from The Searchers at the Star-Club 3. Sweet Nothin’s (1963) from The Searchers at the Star-Club 4. Sick and tired (1963) from The Searchers at the Star-Club) 5. Bye Bye Johnny (1964) from The Searchers 30th Anniversary Collection 1962-1992 6. Baby what do you want me to do/Whole lot of shakin (early 90s?) YouTube Live audience recording • Searchers Live 7. Peggy Sue (Sat 17Jan15) YouTube Live recording Lowdham Village Hall • The Searchers, Lowdham Village Hall, Sat 1... 8. Rock This Land The Searchers On Stage 9. Bumblebee The Definitive Searchers Live In Concert 10. Twist and Shout The Definitive Searchers Live In Concert 11. It’s Too Late The Definitive Searchers Live In Concert 12. Love Potion No 9 The Definitive Searchers Live In Concert 13. Seven Nights To Rock The Definitive Searchers Live In Concert 14. Rockin’ All Over The World The Definitive Searchers Live In Concert Why did I pick out these tracks? For a few years I've been missing hearing rock n roll live, so all these are twangy, loud and mostly obviously Searchers tracks. Tracks 1 to 4 are recordings from a club in Hamburg. Lively and raw. Track 5 I came across on Youtube a few weeks ago, I’d never heard it before, loved it. Track 6 made me regret not going to a Searchers concert until recently. Track 7 can never leave out Buddy Holly track. Tracks 8, 9, 10 and 11 I just love them. Track 12 My absolute favourite Searchers single. Track 13 Makes me smile. I’ve heard so often recently ‘I can’t sing a song unless I connect with it’. Although I understand the emotion of that statement, I say ‘Sing a song because it is a good song’. My smile is remembering John McNally singing the song, he really cannot connect with the words of the song being married over 50 years. I also smile as I should be really cross about the subject of the song, but can’t because it is a rockin song. Track 14 One of my all-time favourite songs, this version is excellent. Thanks to all the information I have borrowed, credits have been given where known. If I have missed any let me know and I will add. I have an extra track which I love, couldn't be included in this compilation as it is more gentle. • Four Strong Winds - The Searchers You really don't want to be in my car when it is playing. PS sorry for any ads there are 2 copyrighted songs included.
