Also known as the bullypit or American bullypit, the American Bully is a dog of North American origin, robust in appearance and somewhat intimidating at first glance. It comes from a cross between the American Pit Bull Terrier and the American Staffordshire Terrier. It wasn't recognized as such until 1990, when it was officially registered. Despite its somewhat ferocious appearance, the American Bully's temperament can be friendly and docile, as long as it receives proper training and socialization. Its stable and outgoing nature makes it a good dog at first glance. It is a breed that likes activity when out for walks, but at home its behavior is calm. Being a genetically strong breed, from puppyhood they are somewhat dominant and territorial, as is the case with most prey breeds. However, proper training from puppyhood will correct these potential problems. The American Bully is a protective dog and possesses physical qualities capable of intimidating even the most daring.
