Next up is HOW TO execute the SINGLES STRAIGHT SMASH RETURN. Wide split step: As we land in a wider split step we will be able to move faster to the sides. This is due to our low center of gravity. If we have a higher stance and want to reach far out the the sides, we will use our upper body to lean out which is less good balance. To take long lunges we need to lower our center of gravity, so we can use our lower body as the primary movers. Higher split step will allow us to faster change direction, which is not preferable in this situation. Reaching: reaching out for the shuttle early gives up a lot of different opportunities to play different shots which up until the very shot will look the same. This is important to make our opponent guessing. Blocking: The blocking shot is a pushing shot. This gives us better control over the shuttle. The smaller the rotation in the forearm the better. We could also only use the fingers as every shot ends out in the fingers. Going underneath the shuttle will not only be easier for us to execute the same angle each time, the shuttle will also rotate the same each time. Hit is straight on and we will never know how the shuttle will rotate. There are of course always different approaches to different situations so it's important we understand the benefits of every move we do. Leave us a comment if you have any questions.
