Fukuyama City's Rose Park began in 1956 when local residents planted approximately 1,000 roses. Renovated in April 2024, it was transformed into a beautiful garden with approximately 7,000 roses of 670 varieties in full bloom. Arches and striped gardens create a three-dimensional floral landscape. It serves as the main venue for the Fukuyama Rose Festival in mid-May each year, attracting many visitors. Admission is free, and the park is easily accessible, about a 15-minute walk from JR Fukuyama Station. Maintenance of Fukuyama City Rose Park is overseen by Masaaki Matsuo, president and CEO of Matsuo Engei, a long-established gardening shop in Kyoto's Rakusai district. The meticulous handiwork of the staff, particularly in training and pruning the climbing roses, contributes to the park's beautiful landscape.
