We're talking about the AMD Radeon 6490m, 6750m, and 6770m series. Repair method: convert the motherboard to Intel HD3000 integrated graphics (the same one is found in a 13-inch MBP from 2011). The motherboards we repair with this defect are: 820-2915-A, 820-2915-B, and 820-3330-B. Years 2011 and 2012. Absolutely every 15- and 17-inch MacBook will fail sooner or later. That's its fate. This problem is well known to MacBook PRO users. You can try to use tricks to disable the dedicated graphics via software. But such a MacBook won't update to a newer system version, and that's just prolonging the agony. My method removes the Achilles' heel of this wonderful device! Graphics performance will drop (noticeable when someone actually uses it for rendering) – but it's worth it! For regular everyday work – not noticeable. Cons: output to an external monitor doesn't work automatic screen dimming/brightening doesn't work dimming/brightening the screen from the keyboard doesn't work After installing the Brightness Slider app from the App Store, you can adjust the screen brightness using the "slider."
