Kenai, Soldotna and a Historical Eklutna Village

I picked up my Friend Rena in Kenai and we had a day of exploring on the way to Anchorage to pick up Heather from the airport. We almost didn't make it on time. After we picked up Heather we went exploring some more, we stopped at a historical village with spirit houses. Spirit houses are a unique blend of traditional beliefs between the Dena'ina Athabascan people and the Russian Orthodox missionaries. The colorful houses are built over the graves to shelter the spirits of the dead as they pass to afterlife.
