St. Thomas the Apostle: Faith, Proof, and the Reality of the Resurrection (21 December)

On this Fourth Week of Advent, we celebrate the Feast of St. Thomas the Apostle, the final saint of the sanctoral cycle before the great feasts of Christmas. Often unfairly labeled “Doubting Thomas,” this sermon reveals the true character of St. Thomas—a man of courage, loyalty, logic, and unshakable faith. Far from being a skeptic, St. Thomas was willing to die with Christ, devoted to following Him wherever He led, and bold enough to demand certainty when the truth would change everything. His refusal to believe lightly was not weakness—it was strength. And by God’s providence, his demand for proof became one of the greatest confirmations of the Resurrection.
