City Power adamant to disconnect illegal connections calls police to assist in Tshepisong township
Residents of Tshepisong, west of Johannesburg, took to the streets in protest overnight, demanding electricity after spending a week without power. City Power says their teams have been unable to carry out repair work due to threats from community members as they tried to remove illegal connections. The utility alleges that most residents in the area do not pay for electricity, and widespread illegal connections have caused severe damage to Pole Mounted Transformers which are each valued at approximately R400,000. For more on this, we cross live to SABC News reporter Calvin Dludla, who is in Tshepisong. For more news, visit sabcnews.com and #SABCNews on all Social Media platforms.
