La Fondazione Don Gnocchi
From Don Carlo's deathbed appeal in the rigorous Milanese dialect ("Friends, please recommend my shack to you!") to the current commitment of over 5,700 workers in Italy and around the world, working alongside and defending life. The passionate dedication of those who serve those who suffer, the daily effort at the heart of pain and at the critical point of the longing for "restoration of health," the highest aspiration of men and women, children, young people, adults and the elderly, rich and poor, weak and strong, believers and non-believers... The story of a unique institution, the sense of a presence rooted in the work of a saint, yet continuing to be attentive to the emerging and priority needs of an ever-changing society. With a characteristic that has never faded: that of being an institution that fosters humanity, so that even the simplest care and rehabilitation intervention—in itself a purely technical act—can be transformed into a humane reality.
