Photography Gives My Days Structure

In this film photography vlog, I take my Rolleiflex T out for a walk around Belfast and talk about how photography helps me get out of the house, give my days a bit more structure, and keep a daily creative practice going. Since moving to a quieter area, my photography has been changing. I’m not always surrounded by busy streets or people like I was in Dublin, so I’ve been paying more attention to light, shapes, lines, composition, and the small details around where I live. I filmed this vlog on the Sony A7C with the Sigma 24-70mm f/2.8 Art II, and shot the photography side of the video on medium format black and white film with the Rolleiflex T using Lomography Lady Grey 400. The roll didn’t really go to plan. I had some light leaks or strange marks, and after developing and scanning the film, I didn’t really love the results. So this video also became a bit of an honest look at what happens when film photography doesn’t work out the way you hoped. I talk about shooting with the Rolleiflex, developing black and white film at home, my thoughts on Lomography Lady Grey 400, and why I still prefer Ilford HP5 or Kodak Tri-X for black and white film photography. This is a quiet photography vlog about daily practice, getting outside, and still taking photos even when the results are not perfect.
