A Calif. Zephyr in Ft. Morgan on 25JUN2026 Please read the description first!

Today's video is an extremely long one as I started the camera and let is run as a meet took place with the California Zephyr #5 and BNSF 7635 East here in Fort Morgan. We suffered three back-to-back-to-back severe thunderstorms last night and early this morning resulting in many roofs torn up, windows broken in cars and houses, and trees shredded. Yes. I did suffer a crack in the windshield of my pickup. Also found a few dribbles of rain forced around the rear side windows by the winds in excess of 80 mph in the second storm. The audio track in the video is worth the listed as the dispatcher talks to both #5 and the freight train setting this meet up. He must be a new one as he didn't understand that #5 needed the main to conduct a station stop this morning. #5 was led by P42s #203 (OLS colors) and #81. They brought the 9-car train to a stop with car 8 (coach to the mid station platform for service to 1 new fare at 0749 MDT (2 hrs. & 12 min. late). There were no detraining passengers. As the BNSF train went around the Zephyr on the passing siding, I did manage to get a closer look at the markings on both the sightseer/lounge and diner cars. The SS/L is a second flight superliner while the diner is a first flight car. After the east bound freight cleared the switch at west Ft. Morgan CP, the Zephyr got the green signal and high balled for Denver. My thanks for the greetings from the operating crew today. Everyone please stay safe!
