My best adventure in Japan (so far) - Shirouma, Nagano | 2,932m

Mt. Shirouma/Hakuba was my first extreme and challenging hike but the amazing view made it worth it 100%. I am glad I had the energy to see both sunset and sunrise which made the hike even more meaningful. Since this is my first hike, I am a bit worried if I have already conquered the best hike in Japan, but this means I need to keep trekking to really prove this. lol For beginner hikers, I recommend the below route. Route Going up (6 to 7 hours): Sarukura - Hakuba Daisekkei Ice Field - Hakuba Sanso (lodge) - Hakuba Take Going down (4 to 6 hours): Went down to the route toward Hakuba lake -Tsugaike Central Park -ropeway - gondola -Tsugaike Central Parking Lot/Bus If you have a car with you, my tip is to park your car at the Hakuba Happo parking lot and take a bus to your starting point. Once you hike down, take another bus going back to Hakuba Happo. With this, you can have a different route and view hiking up and down.
