Mountain Riding with an Anxious Horse | What is Causing This?

Taz has been with us for just over a month, and while he has athletic ability and a seemingly good mind at times, riding brings out a level of anxiety that feels deeper than nerves alone. In this ride, we start to connect the dots between his past experiences with a harsh trainer, his current behavior under saddle, and the possibility of underlying physical discomfort. We share why this will be Taz’s last ride for now, what warning signs we noticed, and why we’ve decided to pause his training until our vet completes a full workup—including dental care, sheath cleaning, and an ultrasound to rule out kidney or bladder issues.
