It's quick to assemble, and the materials are: Glass jar with lid Some cardboard 3 dowels or hollow tubes Some flexible tubing Some electrical wire A terminal block Glue In a matter of seconds, it reaches a 50% vacuum, equivalent to about 320 mm of mercury. This isn't as high as the 85% vacuum achieved in version 1, but it can still be used for numerous applications, such as: compressing clothes, suction in an electronics desoldering pump, raising the level of a liquid, removing bubbles from composites, etc. The power consumption is much lower: 240 mA when starting to create the vacuum 130 mA once the vacuum is established. ...so it can be battery-powered.
