In this video, I explain what remains in a person after a long-term relationship with a person with narcissistic traits and why these effects are so difficult to recognize in oneself. My name is Magdalena Bajsarowicz, I am a lawyer and forensic psychologist. For 15 years, I have been working with parents who have been exposed to a manipulative, abusive individual with narcissistic traits, borderline personality disorder, or personality disorder. I discuss, among other things: Complex Trauma Response (CPTSD) and how it differs from classic post-traumatic stress disorder What is sometimes called Narcissist Victim Syndrome or Narcissistic Stress Disorder Depression, anxiety, hypervigilance, and sleep problems after separation from a narcissist Difficulty making decisions and learned helplessness in daily life New relationships after a narcissist and why it's difficult to accept love and care Impact on professional life, imposter syndrome, and anxiety-driven perfectionism Physical effects of long-term stress, from autoimmune diseases to sleep and eating disorders Loss of identity and the question of who you are after years of living with a narcissist Each of these reactions was a response to an environment where there was no sense of safety. Naming them is the first step to working with them, because it's difficult to process something that's perceived as a personal flaw rather than a response to experience. If you've lived with a narcissist, stay until the end and see which consequences you recognize in yourself. I publish new materials every week - subscribe.
