大本山永平寺ー法堂　Eiheiji Temple　View of the Hattō

Hattō (Dharma Hall) The Hattō (Dharma Hall) stands at the highest point of Eiheiji Temple's Seven-Hall Monastic Complex (Shichidō Garan). The present building was reconstructed in 1843 (Tenpō 14), during the late Edo period. The Hattō serves as the temple's main ceremonial hall, where the morning service and various Buddhist ceremonies are conducted. Its spacious interior, covering approximately 380 tatami mats, enshrines Sacred Avalokiteśvara (Shō Kanzeon Bosatsu) as the principal image at the center. A pair of white guardian lions (A-un Lions) stand on either side of the staircase, symbolizing protection from evil and the welcoming of good fortune. Every morning, the temple's trainee monks (unsui) gather here to perform the Morning Chanting Service (Chōka Fugin). After the service, they proceed to breakfast, known as shōjiki ("small meal"). At Eiheiji, the monks perform chanting services three times each day, a practice known as Sanji Fugin ("Three Daily Chanting Services"). These consist of: Morning Chanting (Chōka Fugin) – held in the Hattō after the early morning zazen meditation. Midday Chanting (Nicchū Fugin) – held in the Butsuden (Buddha Hall). Evening Chanting (Banka Fugin) – also held in the Butsuden. These daily services form an essential part of the monks' disciplined practice and the rhythm of life at Eiheiji. 法堂（Hattō） 法堂位於永平寺七堂伽藍的最高處。現存的法堂建於1843年（天保14年），為江戶時代末期重建的建築。 法堂相當於寺院的本堂，每日早課及各種佛教法會皆在此舉行。堂內空間寬敞，約有380張榻榻米大小，中央供奉本尊聖觀世音菩薩，通往堂內的階梯兩側安置著一對阿吽白獅子，象徵驅邪護法、迎祥納福。 每天清晨，修行僧（雲水）都會在法堂舉行朝課諷經。早課結束後，便享用稱為**小食（しょうじき）**的早餐。 永平寺每日舉行三次誦經法會，稱為三時諷經，分別為： 朝課諷經：在清晨坐禪（曉天坐禪）之後於法堂舉行。 日中諷經：於佛殿舉行。 晚課諷經：同樣於佛殿舉行。 一天三次的誦經法會，是永平寺僧眾修行生活的重要內容，也是維持寺院清規與禪修傳統的重要實踐。 法堂（はっとう） 法堂は、永平寺七堂伽藍の最も高い場所に建つ法要の中心となる建物です。現在の法堂は、天保14年（1843年）に再建されました。 堂内は約380畳の広さを誇り、中央には本尊・聖観世音菩薩が安置されています。また、階段の左右には一対の阿吽の白獅子が配され、魔除けや寺院の守護を象徴しています。 毎朝、修行僧である雲水たちは、この法堂で**朝課諷経（ちょうかふぎん）を勤めます。早朝の坐禅（暁天坐禅）の後に読経が行われ、終了すると小食（しょうじき）**と呼ばれる朝食をいただきます。 永平寺では、一日に三度読経を行う**三時諷経（さんじふぎん）**が修行の基本となっています。 朝課諷経：暁天坐禅の後、法堂で行われます。 日中諷経（にっちゅうふぎん）：仏殿で行われます。 晩課諷経（ばんかふぎん）：仏殿で行われます。 この一日三度の読経は、永平寺の修行生活の中心をなす大切な行持であり、現在も道元禅師の教えに基づく伝統として受け継がれています。 Eiheiji Temple Founded in 1244 (Kangen 2) by the Zen master Dōgen, Eiheiji was established as a training monastery dedicated to the practice of zazen (seated meditation). Following the Siege of Osaka, Tokugawa Ieyasu, who unified and governed Japan, issued the Eiheiji Regulations (Eiheiji Hatto). These regulations declared that all branch temples of the Soto Zen school in Japan must follow the traditions and rules of Eiheiji, reaffirming its status as one of the principal head temples of the sect. 　永平寺創建於寬元二年（1244年），由禪宗高僧 道元 禪師開山，是一座以坐禪修行為中心的道場。大阪之役後，統一天下的 德川家康 頒布《永平寺法度》，規定「日本曹洞宗各末寺皆應遵守永平寺家訓」，使永平寺再次被世人公認為曹洞宗的大本山。 寺院坐落於幽靜深山之中，境內面積約十萬坪（約33萬平方公尺），分布著大小約七十座伽藍殿宇，規模宏大、氣勢莊嚴。 　寛元2年（1244）、道元禅師によって開かれた坐禅の修行道場。大坂の陣ののち、天下を治めた徳川家康が永平寺法度を発布。「日本曹洞宗の末派は永平寺の家訓を守るべし」という内容で改めて大本山として世間に認知された。
