By 2026, the avatar is no longer a distant science-fiction idea. In Japan, virtual performers sing to vast audiences, digital personalities speak with people in real time, AI-powered avatars represent public institutions, and artificial characters can already share the private spaces of everyday life. Aiko Mizuno begins within that reality. She is fictional, but the world that makes her possible already exists in fragments: a copied face, a familiar voice, learned gestures and a presence that waits behind glass. The question is no longer whether an artificial person could feel real. The question is what happens when affection can no longer distinguish between the original, the copy and the person imagining both. Across seven Japanese-language pieces, Aiko Mizuno moves through cinematic electro-jazz, nocturnal lounge music, bebop, fractured improvisation and experimental late-night sound. Reality gradually gives way to reflection, memory and music, until the boundary between human and avatar is no longer important — or perhaps no longer visible.
