BAJA 1000 CHAMPIONS Part 1 Green Army 2020

CLASS 10 - BUGGY SINGLE SEAT - VICTORY - BAJA 1000 *PART 1 - INITIAL 6 HOURS OF RAW IN-CAR RACING FOOTAGE: Strap IN and RIDE onboard GREEN ARMY #1085 to a 2020 BAJA 1000 Class 10 VICTORY. This years BAJA 1000 RACE takes on a LOOP from coast to coast from Ensenada on the Pacific Ocean to the rugged Sea of Cortez running the course mostly backwards to many previous BAJA 1000s. The adventure of racing in BAJA is always fraught with challenges by man and machine. Along the course in 24 hours of racing we encounter several issues, experienced and overcome by Drivers and Team alike. Better than a strong cup of coffee, The Adrenaline pumping CLASS 10 RACE CARS are FAST, LIGHT and extremely capable vehicles when operated with experience and perseverance against the best vehicles to ever race the BAJA. Team GREEN ARMY is a dedicated Baja racing team with over 30 years experience and 8 Baja 1000 Class Victories under their belt. 2020 was an extremely challenging year globally and brought many outside challenges to host this years BAJA 1000 RACE including greatly limited and reduced team capabilities due to covid regulations for entry in and out of Mexico for Team GREEN ARMY. None the less a rally was made and adjustments worked out as the Drivers moved aggressively through many obstacles and challenges with a determined bulldogged stick to the plan approach as each situation presented itself. Challenges included but were not limited to: Two all nighter RESCUE/REPAIR days in the run up to the race found Pre-Runner #1085 broken while pre-running HIGH UP in apex of the pass at Mike's Sky Ranch where only rescue vehicles located in Southern California could access and perform the repairs needed. The Sat Phone call came in and crews departed Chino California at 6pm to arrive atop the rugged Mexico mountain pass at 1AM with repairs lasting until 5:30 am. California crews then re-departed back to the United States to complete race prep of the #1085 RACECAR and get chase crews headed south. Overall fatigue of Driver and Crew began well before the adrenaline of the actual race. It was to be a RACE of pure DETERMINATION and WILl 100%. 1.) Immediate loss of coms and communication to 90% of pit crews and chase vehicles. It became a "no news is good news" situation for the entire duration of the race waiting at designated pit positions. 2.) Fading in and out brake issues made navigating the brutal race course difficult to say the least and persisted throughout the race causing simple errors and valuable time loss.
