SVG attempted to put the already-crowned champions and league rivals under pressure with an aggressive three-striker approach. This proved only partially successful, as it gave SVR ample space to exploit on the wings with their quick counter-attacks. A deep pass from Patrick Czaja, following a cross and a foul on Maiko Käthner, led to a penalty and the opening goal. The second goal came in a similar fashion. SVR goalkeeper Julian Moser spotted the space and played the ball to Käthner, who controlled it perfectly and laid it off to Jannis Lüer for the 2-0 lead. "Oberharz helped us a lot today with their open defense," commented SVR coach Torben Bornkessel. The combined team played well throughout but failed to create any significant scoring opportunities.
