I start the hunt with a sonic bomb to enrage the monster, making it take more damage and stun, but also so it will be able to fall into the pitfall trap. Sonic bombs are also useful throughout the hunt to knock it out of prowler stance, though you don't see that in this run. They also let me safely set up the shock trap at the end of the hunt if everything goes right. However, the Nargacuga was designed to avoid traps, so it will sometimes spend a lot of time dancing around your traps and wasting time. Remarkably, this quest has three viable starting points (3, 6, 8), so getting a good time isn't too difficult. To get the best times, however, this monster needs to roll two of the lowest possible HP values out of five, meaning every Green Nargacuga has a 40% chance to get a time this low. It is possible to get a run under two minutes, but that requires the monster to start the hunt with an attack that starts in prowler stance, netting you a free hit with a sonic bomb, and then a risky shock trap at the end of the hunt. As usual, I use bombs at the start of the hunt to lower my HP to activate Felyne Heroics, which gives me a 1.35x attack boost.
