Creation Sound System ft Jr Demus, Echo Minott, Papa San, Charlie Chaplin, Pinchers, Monks Man, Meeks & Meeks 1987 Echo Minott Noel Philips, 1962, Kingston, Jamaica, West Indies. Philips began his career in 1981 with King Jammy when he recorded ‘Youthman’ and an obscure album under his own name. He decided to start afresh with Michael ‘Myrie’ Taylor and Marshall who had set up the Sunset label. Owing to confusion over the Harry J. label of the same name, the duo discontinued Sunset and resurfaced with the Reggae Sting logo. The result of Philips’ association with the team was ‘Ten Miles’, recording as Echo Minott. He performed in the ‘sing-jay’ style that was immensely popular in the early 80s. In 1982 he recorded ‘Emilio Bimbo’ with Prince Hammer, who took control of Minott’s career on his own Berris label. Minott’s popularity grew when he performed ‘What The Hell The Police Can Do’, a reference to the security forces’ reluctance to become involved in domestic disputes. With producer Jack Scorpio he recorded ‘Lazy Body’, an early product of the digital age, as the rhythm was accompanied with a drum machine, considered sacrilegious by the purists. The result of the song’s popularity was the release of two one-rhythm albums, Lively Body and Lively Move. At the 10th Reggae Sunsplash in Jamaica, Minott virtually stole the show at the dancehall night when he performed alongside Peter Metro, Red Dragon, Leroy Smart, Lovindeer and General Trees. Minott continued to record irregular hits through to the 90s, including ‘Wherever You Go’, ‘Cool And Deadly’, ‘Jealousy Fe Done’, ‘When My Little Girl Is Smiling’ and ‘New Dimension’. In 1993 he enjoyed a dancehall success with ‘Murder Weapon’, which used similar vocal phrasing to Burning Spear and led to various dance remixes. In 1995 Minott had a minor hit with ‘Girl Of My Complexion’, which reaffirmed his enduring talent. Pinchers Delroy Thompson (born 12 April 1965), better known by his stage name Pinchers, is a Jamaican reggae and dancehall artist. He released one album as a teenager in Jamaica for Blue Trac Records, before moving to the UK in 1985. In his career since 1985, Pinchers made his first hits in 1986 with "Borrow No Gun", which he released through King Jammy, "Abrakabra", "Eat Man", and "Jailhouse Hot". Pinchers gained fame with the single "Agony", from the album of the same name produced by King Jammy. In the same year, he recorded the Mass Out album, produced by Philip "Fatis" Burrell and backed by Sly & Robbie, Jackie Mittoo and Robbie Lyn, among others. In 1990, he had another hit, "Bandelero", which endures as probably his most remembered single and also released the songs "Carpenter", "Call Upon Mi God", and "Cross Them Bridge" in 1993. Charlie Chaplin (born Richard Bennett) first came to prominence as a member of DJ innovator U-Roy's Stur-Gav Hi-Fi in 1980-1981. Along with fellow Stur-Gav chatter Josey Wales, Chaplin became one of the most popular DJs on the island during his stay with U-Roy, even rivalling the dancehall king of the day, Yellowman. Wales and Chaplin also gained inspiration from U-Roy, continuing the DJ tradition Roy helped launch in the late '60s by taking on some of the master's phasing style and lyrical predilections. Red Pond & Chaplin Chant Chaplin soon cut his first album for producer and ex-Royals singer Roy Cousins. The two albums that resulted, Red Pond and Chaplin Chant, gave Chaplin's career a major boost with his first hits, "Mother in Law" and "Diet Rock"; the set also featured the Kilamanjaro DJ Jim Kelly, who was shot and killed shortly after the recording was made. Papa San was born with the name, Tyrone Thompson, in Jamaica. He was raised by his grandmother in Spanish Town, a city located just outside Kingston, the capital of Jamaica. While he experienced the hopelessness of a hard life, of grinding poverty and street violence, he also was exposed to the full musical qualities of Reggae music through dance, and singing, which was played full blast with the help of P.A's throughout the town on the weekends. The weekends were like block parties, which took away some of the stings of their substandard living conditions, helping the people to forget for a while, and try to escape the hopelessness of their situations. Besides street Reggae music, artists such as Bob Marley, Dennis Brown and John Holt, as well as a wide range of American Pop and Rock music artists further influenced the very talented Tyrone, destined to be known as Papa San, the Dancehall King, in his future, as he was to create his own music genre based on the musical elements he was exposed to and his unique musical talents. ❤️💛💚 #Reggae #SoundSystem #Culture For more Quality Vibes Subscribe to our YouTube Channel. █▬█ █ ▀█▀ Subscribe, █▬█ █ ▀█▀ Like & Comment
