Taiwanese track and field athlete Chen Yi-cen, who decided to study in Japan last year and is currently enrolled at Chukyo University Affiliated Chukyo High School, returned to Taiwan during this winter training period to compete with her teammates in the New Taipei City Youth Cup National Track and Field Open. She expressed that she missed Taiwan and wanted to know how things were going, using the competition as training to adjust her form. "Compared to before, I feel there have been slight changes in my movements, and I'm still adapting to my body's condition. It's not perfect yet; it feels a bit stiff when I run, but I'm still working on getting a feel for the run," Chen Yi-cen admitted. She explained that the Japanese school system (starting in April) is different from Taiwan's, so this is the first time she's experienced such a long winter training period. She hopes to use this time to solidify her fundamentals and physical fitness to prepare for the new season. After several months in Japan, Chen Yi-cen feels the training environment there is excellent, with senior students being very willing to help. However, she is still improving her language skills and getting used to the cold weather. The 15-year-old has already qualified for the women's 400 meters at the Hong Kong Asian Youth Athletics Championships.
