„Odmówił powrotu do kraju”. Ucieczki polskich sportowców z PRL – cykl Tytani sportu odc. 13

📺 WATCH the program and FIND OUT! ▶ During the Polish People's Republic, many Polish athletes represented their homeland in various competitions. Thanks to their skills and commitment, Poles could forget, at least for a moment, about the worries of everyday life, which were certainly abundant between 1945 and 1989. Nevertheless, during that time, a group of Polish athletes decided to flee communist-ruled Poland. In the latest episode of the "Titans of Sport" series, we will discuss the profiles of athletes who chose to lead a life outside Poland. 👤 Paweł Sztam (IPN Historical Research Office, Museum of Cursed Soldiers and Political Prisoners of the Polish People's Republic) is hosting: ▪ Dr. Witold Bagieński – employee of the IPN Archives, and ▪ Dr. Sebastian Pilarski – director of the IPN Historical Research Office. 📌 Every third Monday of the month, you'll be able to watch a program dedicated to various sports and their development in Poland, the successes of our national teams on the international stage, and famous athletes competing under the Polish flag. We'll also discuss the political context of sport – from its role during the struggle for independence to the surveillance of athletes by the communist secret services.
