On a spring day when the cherry blossoms were in bloom, I enjoyed solo camping at the Kaita General Park Campground in Hiroshima Prefecture. Luckily, I set up camp in a spot with a view of the night scenery, and leisurely savored spring delicacies by the bonfire. I grilled horse mackerel tartare, bamboo shoots, squid, chicken breast, asparagus, and rib fingers over charcoal, and enjoyed a quiet time with beer, sake ("Tenbi"), and whiskey sipped over the bonfire. And to cap it all off, I enjoyed Kure Reimen (cold noodles) provided by the renowned Kure restaurant "Chinraiken." The noodles, chilled thoroughly in ice water, and the special flavor made my camping night even more special. The next morning, I started the day peacefully with rice cooked with sea bream from the Seto Inland Sea, miso soup, and drip coffee.
