A Stranger Comes to Town. To Surf.

I went to Morocco to learn how to surf. I didn’t film this trip thinking I would make a video out of it. Most of the time, I was just trying to find a place to sleep, catch the right bus, understand the ocean, leave the wrong places, and somehow stay in the story. So this film is made from whatever was left in my gallery. Some moments are missing. Some footage appears more than once. But I guess memory works like that too. This is a story about Marrakesh, Essaouira, Sidi Kaouki, Tamraght, Taghazout, missed buses, bad waves, a baby seagull, a surfboard I could barely carry, and a few days by the ocean that didn’t go the way I imagined. But maybe that was the point. Thank you to the people I met along the way, who made the story more beautiful than I expected. Ceren.
