How To Write In An Open Tuning (AND WHY YOU SHOULD)

Picking up an open tuning should be easier than it is for a lot of people--in this video I discuss a few ways to look at an open tuning for those who want to play midwest emo and / or math rock with these tunings. I play in open E, or, the way i've downtuned it, C# G# C# F G# C#, but these same techniques and points can be made in a variety of different guitar tunings like F A C G C E or D A E A C# E. My goal in this video is to have you look at open tunings with the creative ear, and find yourself guided by a basic understanding of just the major scale. With this, it becomes super easy to modify chords and get these naturally gorgeous, wide, open voicings on guitar.
