It was the first regular tournament contested by teams directly and indirectly affiliated with the AFA (Argentine Football Association), due to the inclusion of Club Atlético Talleres from the city of Córdoba. Talleres was authorized by Resolution 1309, which stipulated that indirectly affiliated teams that reached the final stages of the National Tournaments for two out of three consecutive years would be invited to participate in regular championships, such as the Metropolitan Tournament. Club Atlético River Plate won the championship, securing their eighteenth title in the professional era. They clinched the title on matchday 34, defeating Club Atlético Tigre at their home stadium.
