The Most Overrated Unit in Fire Emblem History

Donnel in Fire Emblem Awakening is one of the most infamous Growth Characters of all time. He has a reputation among casuals as being a broken character who completely destroys the game, and is often hyped as one of the best units, but is that actually true? He has some of the worst combat at base of any unit in fire emblem history. He's in a game where every other character is a training project who is easier to train, and needs EXP and promotion items just as badly as him, and will turn out better than Donnel in the end. He's lacking key components to making a completed build, and can only run ONE build -- a Sol tank -- but every other Sol tank can get there faster, smoother, and do it better. "Project Units" are typically difficult to train but become the best in the end. However, Donnel is special because his endgame performance is actually among the worst in the game. So how is it possible that a character who is mathematically the worst in the game at base and at endgame gets the reputation as being one of the best?
