Deadly week on Maryland roads ends with massive pileup

A dramatic multi-vehicle crash in Montgomery County, Maryland, left 10 people hospitalized after a moving truck lost control and slammed into several vehicles at the intersection of Columbia Pike (U.S. 29) and Fairland Road. The crash drew widespread attention after images of a Tesla Cybertruck split in half circulated across social media. Despite the severity of the wreckage, first responders say all 10 victims—including three children—suffered minor injuries and are expected to survive. The Montgomery County Police Department is investigating the cause of the crash. The incident comes during a deadly week on Maryland roads, following two separate fatal crashes in Prince George's County that claimed six lives. Road safety advocates are now urging state and local leaders to accelerate improvements to dangerous intersections before more tragedies occur. Watch as 7News examines the crash, the investigation, and the growing calls for safer roads across Maryland.
