Annie Staninec told the story behind this tune of Dennis Fetchet's. Dennis was a great southern California fiddler who played with the Bluegrass Cardinals, Byron Berline's bands & toured for many years with Hoyt Axton. Dennis was trying to buy a VW Rabbit and hoped to earn enough $ playing a long term gig at Magic Mountain theme park, but he didn't get hired and they chose another gimmicky fiddler named Roscoe who played Orange Blossom Special lying on his back. So..in a way, Roscoe got the $$ so Dennis wasn't able to get that VW Rabbit :( This video is from the Bluegrass From The Forest festival in Shelton, WA.
