54 Sound Intensity level - Decibels

In this video, we continue our study of sound by introducing the decibel scale and explaining why sound intensity level is measured using a logarithmic relationship. We compare common sound levels, use the decibel equation to find an intensity ratio, and then solve a wave example using period and wave speed to find wavelength. You will learn how decibels compare sound intensities, why zero decibels does not mean no sound, why a 3-decibel increase corresponds to about twice the intensity.
