Is Kenai River Alaska sockeye salmon Fishing dead... or just a rumor? With increased bag limits and fresh fish pouring into the river, I headed upstream and found stringers of salmon everywhere. After waiting my turn, it took just three casts before I hooked and landed a beautiful buck sockeye. But the real mission was the Kenai River. I met up with Vinny and Eric at Swiftwater Park in Soldotna to see what was really happening. We spotted sockeye jumping everywhere, but a hungry harbor seal had the fish scattered and made getting a hookup nearly impossible. Not ready to give up, we moved to another section of the river near the Kenai River Center. What we found completely changed the story. Anglers were landing fish, stringers were filling up, and before long I hooked into a fresh sockeye of my own. So... is Kenai River sockeye salmon fishing dead?
