The Tachograph Activity Certificate is a standardized document for the European Union, within the scope of driving and rest times for the transport of goods or passengers. It is used to justify a driver's activity when they have not been able to record their time on the digital tachograph (driver card) or analog tachograph (discs - diagram). Guidance Note 7 of the European Commission states that the activity certificate should be used when recording it on the tachograph is impossible, or when doing so would represent an excessive burden. In Spain, Circular Instruction 1/2021 of the Ministry of Transport indicates that the use of manual entries for recording should always be prioritized. That is, this document will no longer be required for activities that can be recorded on the tachograph. However, in the event of a lack of data in the recording device, it will be accepted as sufficient evidence to demonstrate compliance with Regulation (EC) 561/2006, such as when using a tachograph with disc diagrams, and therefore additional manual entries cannot be entered. The activity certificate had to be completed when the corresponding rest periods had not been recorded by the tachograph. The activity certificate, like the rest of the tachograph records, must be carried in the vehicle if it records the activities of the current day or the previous 28 days. If it becomes stained or torn, it will lose validity. After this 28-day period has passed, it must be kept for one year, thus making it available for possible inspections. The activity certificate had to be completed in the following cases: When the driver has been on sick leave. To justify vacation periods. After having been on leave or rest. After driving a vehicle exempt from the requirement for a tachograph. Having performed work other than driving. If available.
