SPEED PETAL, FINE TUNING SPRING ADJUSTMENT FOREDOM FOOT PEDAL

FOREDOM SPEED PETAL, FINE-TUNING SPRING ADJUSTMENT! All I've done here is shorten the spring in the actual switch to produce much smoother control during the beginning of the through. The switch consists of a slide bar connected to an electronic board for the beginning 1/3 of the switch travel. Once the pedal has reached about a third into the swing a larger throw switch is activated giving the motor full throttle. Softening/shortening the spring will allow a much smoother transition within the slide switch part length. This transition to me seems much too short, but for the price of this unit, it is expected. For even better control I would recommend elevating oneself by for example standing on 2x4s and leaving the switch at floor level. In this way you will not be using micro muscles to lift toes or front part of the foot, rather lowering toes to the pedal surface. In fact, doing so one could easily buy-pass my little adjustment. All in All, I believe this has made the petal usable, my case and until I find a better pedal at a reasonable price I am quite happy running my Chines Fordom knock-off. If you try this keep in mind that you need a certain amount of tension to run the switch shaft back up its channel. If not the motor may keep spinning at perhaps a slow speed. That is if you have cut the spring excessively! If this happens you will have two choices, 1. Stretch your spring a little which will probably work or 2. Replace with a new one which I believe cannot be that difficult to find and so long as you trim this coiled wire at small intervals...... nibble away to the desired length or what works with your specific button. The most difficult part may be just opening the case itself.
