Cametal Neoplan Skyliner 1980 - Historia del Omnibus de dos pisos en Argentina -
To mark the 40th anniversary of its introduction, Buses Rosarinos is launching a series of videos on the history of double-decker buses in Argentina for long-distance services. In the late 1970s, Carrocerías Cametal signed an agreement with the German company Gottlob Auwärter GmbH (Gesellschaft mit beschränkter Haftung) to manufacture the famous Neoplan double-decker buses in Argentina. This was the first double-decker bus manufactured in Argentina. The model was called the Cametal Neoplan Skyliner and the N128/4 version. Some publications refer to it as the Super Skyliner because it had four axles instead of three like the German one. It was 14 meters long and powered by a 352 hp Mercedes Benz OM403 V10 naturally aspirated diesel engine, ZF (Zahnradfabrik Friedrichshafen) model 8065 steering, and Allison model HT 750 CRD automatic transmission. The Neoplan Skyliner featured emergency exits developed based on German StVZO regulations. (Straßenverkehrs-Zulassungs-Ordnung, being the first to bring hammers to break the glass that formed the emergency exit. Production under the CKD system and integration of national parts took place at the Carrocerías Cametal plant in Villa Gobernador Gálvez, currently occupied by Carrocerías Metalsur / Marcopolo. Between 1980 and 1981, 12 units of this model were manufactured. Six cars were purchased by El Condor, two by Río de la Plata, two by Transportes Bologna ATI Tour, and two by Transporte Rojas. The latter were not delivered due to the company's financial problems and were given to Ormeños in Peru for international service. If there are any unmentioned credits in the documentary, please let us know. Thank you very much.
