Sea Fog Stopped My Shark Trip... So I Found The Pollack Instead | Belfast Lough Man

What about ya and welcome! Woke up to glass calm water and full sun, perfect conditions for a shot at tope in the lough. Problem was a wall of sea fog sitting just outside, and with no AIS on the boat there was no way I was risking a run through it with ferry traffic like the Stena moving through. Sat tight on shore and watched it roll in instead. By the time it lifted I'd only an hour odds of fishing left, so tope were off the table. Tried everything to salvage the day, sandeel lures, jigging, metal lures, nothing. Loads of fry and bait fish about so I had a hunch the fish were keyed in on smaller bait. I switched to a mackerel trace and had a double shot of pollack straight away. Moved up along the cliffs, tried the casting lures again, blanked, went back to the mackerel trace and it fired again, that confirmed it. Finished up on a shamrock Pollack lure trolling back down into the lough and picked up a few more pollack plus some mackerel off camera. Not the shark session I planned but the fog didn't spoil the day.
