Weekend News Report - A heated online controversy has erupted after a group of Italian teenagers displayed inappropriate behavior on the BTS Skytrain, leading the Italian Embassy in Thailand to summon them to apologize to the Thai people. The incident, captured on video, shows a group of Italian teenagers making loud noises, shouting, laughing, and using vulgar language on the BTS Skytrain. Even when the person filming asked them in English to lower their voices, the teenagers reacted negatively, covering the camera, making symbolic gestures with their fingers, laughing mockingly, and making insulting remarks. A Thai tour guide also tried to intervene but was unable to control the situation. Many social media users complained to the Italian Embassy's Facebook page, requesting an investigation into the teenagers' behavior. The situation escalated when a Thai-German man went to meet the teenagers at their hotel to demand an apology to the Thai people. Subsequently, the Italian Embassy in Thailand issued a statement in three languages ​​expressing regret and apologizing to the Thai people, emphasizing that the actions were those of individuals. The incident did not reflect all Italian values ​​or the image of Italians. Following this, a video was released showing the four teenagers bowing and saying "hello" before taking turns apologizing to the Thai public, admitting that their behavior was inappropriate. They had initially intended to apologize sooner but were afraid and anxious. The person who filmed the incident and had the altercation with the teenagers has filed a police report at Samrae Police Station. They explained that the group consisted of 48 people. They boarded the BTS Skytrain at Sala Daeng station and began making noise from the moment they got on until they reached Chong Nonsi station. Feeling uncomfortable, they asked in English, "Could you please be quiet?" but were met with the reaction shown in the video. Instead of the staff accompanying the teenagers intervening, they encouraged them, saying, "With so many people, how can we be quiet? Sorry for bringing money to your country," before they all disembarked at Thon Buri station. Around 11 PM, Samrae police invited the Italian teenagers to meet with the victim to apologize and resolve the misunderstanding. The meeting lasted over an hour before the matter was resolved. Regarding the legal case, five people were charged with "insulting in public" and fined 1,000 baht each. One of them, who made a symbolic gesture with their fingers, was additionally charged with "committing an act that is likely to cause embarrassment in public" and fined 2,000 baht.
